Max Vernon Pearson, 80, of Morganton, NC and the Salem community passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023. He was born on October 9, 1942 in Burke County to the late Vernon and Wilma Pearson. He was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. Max was employed by Shadowline and retired from Western Youth Correctional Facility.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Thomas Wesley Pearson.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pearson; sons, Mark Pearson (Brenda) and Matthew Pearson (Dawn); grandchild, Dalton Pearson; sisters, Norida Arrowood and Linda Stamey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., January 12, 2022 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. David Orders officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at Amorem Hospice for their loving care of Max.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amorem.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
