Max Edward Warlick, 60 of V.F.W. Rd., Morganton, NC died Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the VA. Medical Center in Asheville, NC following a period of declining health. He was born .October 8, 1946 in Burke County, and was a son of the late Floyd Warlick and Lizziebelle Carpenter Warlick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Grooms. Mr. Warlick was a retired US Army Staff Sergeant with over 20 years of military service, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was very active in V.F.W. Post 5362, and was a member of the MOCA.

He is survived by his wife, Moria Dhondt Warlick of the home; a son, Todd Warlick of Morganton; step-children, Paula Weston and Patricia Weston, both of Morganton; step-grandchildren, Georgina Weston, Perry Dellinger, and Taylor Weston, all of Morganton; and brothers, James Warlick of Morganton, John Warlick and his wife, Carol, of Montgomery, AL, Perry Warlick and wife, Brona, of Milton, FL, and Bill Warlick and wife, Kay, of Casar, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Sunday, April 29, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Beatty officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Drexel with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #234 in Valdese. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 until 7:30 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W Post 5362, 557 Hopewell Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
