Max Auldredge, 79, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, died Thursday, August 4, 2011 following a period of declining health. Mr. Auldredge was born in Buncombe County, NC on October 9, 1931 and was a son of the late Claude A. and Octavia Clark Auldredge. Max was a hard working man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He was also an avid musician and enjoyed playing the banjo and guitar. He was a member of Glen Alpine First Baptist Church.Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Sue Frisbee Auldredge, of the home; sons, Ricky Auldredge and wife, Anne, of Morganton and Tracy Auldredge and wife, Melanee, of Olympia, WA; daughters, Linda Hunt and husband, Pat, of Lenoir, Maxine Davis, and Robin Burgess and husband, David, all of Glen Alpine; sisters, Pauline Owenby, Frances Ball and Nanette Dowdle all of Asheville, Jean Hunter, of Birmingham, AL, Vivian Scott of Fletcher, and Virginia Tweed, of Hendersonville; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Max was preceded in death by a half brother, Walter Auldredge; and twin sisters, June and Joan Auldredge.Funeral services for Max Auldredge will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Mull officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care & Hospice Center of Catawba County, Inc., 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
