Mary Sue Johnson, 80 of Morganton, has been promoted and is in the presence of her Lord. Mary was greeted by her two sons, Floyd Lee and Kyle Johnson; grandson, Joshua Kestner; and her mother and father. Mary Sue was born in Avery County on December 11, 1936 to the late Coleman Burleson and Bonnie Vance Burleson. She was a member of Big Meadows Baptist Church in Newland, NC. Mary is now singing with the angels.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of sixty-three years, Kyle Johnson; daughters, Bonita Beck and Tammy Miller and husband, Tracy all of Morganton; brother, Demery Burleson of Newland; and sisters, Martha Benfield of Newland, Barbara Jean Young and Nora Ann Lail both of Morganton. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ray Ollis, Nona Ollis, Crystal Brittain, Brandon Johnson, Myria Burge, and Catina Lusk and great-grandchildren, Caleb Allman, Cyerra Burge, Malachi Buck, Reminton Buck, Caden Faith Rhodes, Braisley Lusk, KyLee Rainn Lusk, Jordan Caroline Kestner, and Marti Moore.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Big Meadows Church (1985 Horney Road, Newland, NC 28657) with Jesse Pritchard, nephew officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
