Mary “Nell” Allen Causby, 78, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on July 10, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Healen R. Allen and Mary Jo Anderson Allen. Nell was a member of First Baptist Church in Glen Alpine, NC. She was a devoted mother and loved her family dearly. Mrs. Causby loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed taking care of her pets.
Nell is survived by her sons, Mal Edward Causby (Denise), Garry Dale Causby (Cathy), and Carl Andrew “Andy” Causby, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Lawrence Causby (Wendy), Douglas Causby (Heather), Jason Causby (Stephanie), Crystal Harris, Marsha Logan, and Michael Evans; great-grandchildren, Kaitlan Goode, Addison Causby, Parker Causby, Andrew Harris, Kayla Harris, and Nate Harris; great-great-grandchildren, Ava Goode, Oasis Evans, Dominic Evans, Emma Osborne, Tristen Montez, Sophie Montez, Santara Greene, and Jonathan Greene; a sister, Jean Allen of Valdese, NC; and a number of nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents, Nell was preceded in death by a son, Lawrence Russell Causby; sisters, Nora Mae Meyers (Clarence) and Helen Whisenant (Ellis); and brothers, Carl Allen, Bobby Joe Allen (Winnie), and Sidney “Doodle” Allen.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm, Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be held at 3 pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor John Terry officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Alpine Cemetery.
