Mary Margaret (Deck) Hudspeth,93, of Morganton, North Carolina passed away peacefully on April 30,2025 in Newton, North Carolina. She was born December 19,1931 in Rutherford County, North Carolina to the late Bill Deck Sr. and the late Lorena Kirksey Deck. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Jack R. Hudspeth, as well as siblings Bill Deck Jr. and John A. Deck.
Mary is survived by her daughter Beverly Hudspeth Genda (Jerry) of Hickory, North Carolina and son Timothy R. Hudspeth (Hope) of Morganton, North Carolina, grandchildren, Brian Beck (Malerie) of Covington, Louisiana, David Munk (Melissa) of Houston, Texas and Brittany Lowdermilk of Morganton, North Carolina. Mary had six great grandchildren, Braleigh, Sway, Pyper, Sawyer, Hudson and Adeline. She is also survived by siblings Ronald Deck(Norma) of Catawba, North Carolina ,Annette Garrou of Valdese, North Carolina, and Carroll Deck ( Mollie) of Marion, North Carolina as well as a number of special nieces and nephews.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Glenwood High School in McDowell County, North Carolina where she served as Vice President of her Senior Class and was chosen as Most Likely to Succeed. Following high school graduation she pursued her lifelong dream of Nursing. She was a 1953 graduate of the Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Morganton, North Carolina where she developed very close lifelong friendships lasting a lifetime. She began her career in Nursing at Grace Hospital and later worked in the office of Dr. Andrew M. Lang and several other Morganton physicians.
Mary was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church in Salem, North Carolina.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Burkemont Baptist Church in Morganton, NC with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dementia Society of America.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dearest Tim and family. I am saddened to hear your mom's passing. She was a great American.l and my late mother traveled the world it seemed with Ms. Mary by her side. She lived a long life and it was well lived. Mama Josephine passed April 15th 2015. Thanks for sharing your mother with us all. Be safe Bruce

Tim and family, We went to church with your mom and she was also my nurse whenever I went to Dr. Lang decades ago. She was such a wonderful Christian with a great personality.
