Mary Lou Franklin Egan

Mary Lou Franklin Egan, 102, of Carolina Rehab Center of Burke in Connelly Springs, NC died Friday, November 09, 2007 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born January 6, 1905 in Burke County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Obe N. Franklin and Minnie Pearson Franklin. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.Mary Lou worked as a registered nurse in hospitals in New Jersey and Ohio. She later moved to Florida and worked in the radiology field. After the death of her husband, she moved back to Morganton.Mary Lou is survived by a sister-in-law, Martha Franklin of Morganton; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John F. Phillips and her second husband, John B. Egan; brothers, Preston, Ralph, Eugene, Obie, Howard, and Iverson Franklin; and sisters, Velsie Lee Franklin, Elizabeth Dale, and Dail Murphy.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2007 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Freshour officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 until 3 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1206 Salem Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Burial will be at a later date in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
