Mary Harlee Abernathy, 67 of Morganton, NC died Saturday, February 25, 2017. She was born in McDowell County, NC on September 20, 1949 and was the daughter of the late Homer Woodrow Harlee and Nancy Savannah Gaddy Harlee. Mary was very tech savvy. She always put others before herself. Mary loved her family and her greatest accomplishment was her granddaughters and great-grandson.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a nephew, Jamie Kyle Harlee.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wayne Huskins; daughter, Dusty Abernathy Caldwell and husband, William; son, Christopher Abernathy all of Morganton; granddaughters, Ashley Nicole Pruitt, Alisity Marie Abernathy, and Amelia Abernathy; great-grandson, Liam Alexander Rice; sisters, Joanne Chapman of Glen Alpine and Elaine Workman of Marion; and a brother Donald Harlee of Marion.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 at the home of Dusty Caldwell. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690 or to Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, 5005 LBJ. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
