Mary Ann Benfield, 48, of Morganton, NC died Saturday, October 17, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on January 16, 1967, she was the daughter of Ralph Benfield and Lois Buff Benfield of Morganton. Mary was a member of Mountain View #2 Baptist Church. She was a registered nurse who retired from Grace Heights and Valdese Hospital.
A loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Benfield is survived by her children, Chyenne Spurling and Cody Benfield, both of Morganton; a step-son, Steven Deal of Arkansas; grandchildren, Cody Benfield, Jr. and Nova Benfield; and siblings, Peggy McLean, Tiny Riddle, Jerry Benfield, Charles Benfield, Curtis Benfield, and Tony Benfield, all of Morganton.
Mary was preceded in death by a son, Damian Spurling.
The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2015 (today) at Mountain View #2 Baptist Church. A private family burial will be held at the church cemetery with the Rev. Curtis Norris officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
