Marvin Lewis Campbell, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023.

Born in Rutherford County, NC on September 3, 1936, he is the son of the late Marvin O. Campbell and Mary Wease Campbell.

Marvin was one of the original members of Grace Baptist Church. He was a Godly man who loved the Lord and served as a deacon at his church. He enjoyed boxing while serving in the National Guard, taking things apart and putting them back together, traveling, and fishing. He dearly loved his family.

A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Marvin is survived by his sons, Jeffery Campbell (Zeny) and Gary Campbell (Linda); thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Susan Cox (Donnie); and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Linda Josephine Saunders Campbell; son, Randy Campbell; granddaughter, Michelle Campbell; and eight siblings.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Marvin was truly a good Christian man that loved the Lord and his family. He will be missed but we must remember that he is now in heaven with Jesus singing and praising our Lord. He has a brand new body and no more pain. We pray for God’s comfort and mercy for you and your families and may He bless each and everyone. We love y’all, Betty and Mike Boyd
