Marvin L. McFalls, 80, of Morganton died Wednesday September 10, 2014 at his residence. Marvin was born in Burke County, NC on July 27, 1934 and was a son of the late William Henry McFalls and Ruth Mae Mull McFalls. In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kaye Reece McFalls, and by a brother, Rex McFalls.

He was a retired employee of Artcraft Press and was a member and Deacon at Hartland Baptist Church. Marvin was a dedicated Christian, father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He liked nothing better than farming on Upper Creek with his close friends, Duey Coffey, Sanford Clark, his late brother, Rex, and Geneva King and her late husband, Bronson, who passed away several years ago.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Rodney McFalls and his wife, Judy, and Penny McFalls Smith and her husband, Phil, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Alex and Austin McFalls, and Garrett and Andrew Smith; a brother, Leslie McFalls and his wife, Glenda, of Waynesville; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn McFalls, Gail Reece Patton, and Jane Reece Young; a brother-in-law, Phillip Reece and wife, Lena; a number of nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at Hartland Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Grindstaff, Dr. Todd Smith, and Dr. Steve Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hartland Baptist Church Piano Fund, 3730 Hartland Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
