Marvin Carswell, 88, of Salem Rd., Morganton, NC died Monday, December 4, 2006 at Grace Heights following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County, NC on August 9, 1918, and he was a son of the late Charlie Wesley Carswell and Minnie Chapman Carswell. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Fox Carswell; his son, Harold Carswell; brothers, Wilburn Carswell, Jessie Carswell, Ernest Carswell, and Gaston Eugene Carswell; and by a sister, Gracie Carswell. Marvin was a retired employee of Henredon Furniture and attended Shining Light Baptist Church.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Carswell Rector, of Newton, NC and a sister, Versie Carswell Chapman, of Morganton.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 6, 2006, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Castle officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
