Martha Kincaid Powell

Martha Kincaid Powell, 82, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at Autumn Care of Drexel, NC following a lengthy illness. Born in Burke County, NC on March 25, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Byron Kincaid and Sarah Rusmisell Kincaid. Martha was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a great cook and a loving homemaker.She is survived by her grandson, Byron Powell of Oak Island, NC; a granddaughter, Amy Powell of Albuquerque, NM; a sister, Virginia Drury of Morganton; and brothers, Max Kincaid and Gilbert Kincaid and wife, Betty Jean, all of Morganton; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Obie Thompson Powell; a son, Thompson Filmore Powell; and a sister, Dorothy K. Moran.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2008 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Drexel Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the late Fil Powell, 201 Woodside Drive, Drexel, NC.
