Marita Louise Burleson Dudley, 61, of West Homestead Lane in Morganton died Saturday June 10, 2006 at Grace Hospital following a brief illness. Born October 27, 1944 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late William Burleson and Ruth Gwyn Burleson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Carolyn Burleson.
A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by a daughter, Zonie Carter and husband, Dwight of Morganton; brother, Samuel Burleson of Newland; sister, Frances Wright of Lenoir; grandchildren, Dave Carter and Mindy Carter and her fiancée, Charles Gragg.
The funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2006 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Newland with the Reverend Tony Clark officiating. Burial will follow in the Burleson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Sossoman Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
