Marie Phillips Crites, 95 of Morganton, NC passed away, Monday, March 9, 2026. Born on January 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William Phillips Sr. and Mamie Phillips.
Marie was a member .
of First Baptist Church of Morganton. She graduated from Glen Alpine High School and worked at Southern Bell. Marie loved to plant flowers in her yard. Marie loved her family dearly.
Marie is survived by her son, Gary Crites (Teresa); sister-in-law, Irene Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; siblings, Bill Phillips, Jack Phillips, Betty Sue Courtney.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm, Friday, March 13, 2026 at Burke Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Berkeley and to Medi Hospice.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Marie was a sweet wonderful soul that Bless me everyday with her smile hugs and kisses she look forward to see me and some my other coworkers but me especially I call her “Granny” or “My Sweet Lady” she would be the first person I go see as soon I clock in for work I’m truly going to miss you so much thank you for loving me and trusting me to take care of you Granny Girl I love love love love love you so much I will definitely miss you more than this world will knw you had 95 wonderful and Bless Years you deserve to Rest Now!
