Margie Marie Kerley Shuping, of Morganton went to be with Jesus and her family on Saturday, May 4, 2013 while surrounded by her family. Born in Dunlap, TN, she was the daughter of the late Jonah Kerley and Grace Haire Kerley. Margie was a faithful member of Burkemont Baptist Church.Mrs. Shuping is survived by her son, Ned Shuping and his wife, Roberta, of Morganton; daughters, Naomi McGee and her husband, Larry, of Morganton and Wilda Herman and her late husband, Gary, of Palm Beach, FL; a daughter-in-law, Pam Long and her husband, Mike, of Morganton. Mrs. Shuping is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Poteet and his wife, Diana, and their children, David and Natalie; Andrew Shuping and his wife, Brenda, and their daughter, Loretta; Philip Shuping and his wife, Betty, and their daughter, Savannah; Fallon Gardner and her husband, Justin, and their children, Shelby, Taylor, and Titus; and Gary Herman, Jr. and his wife, Lavene, and their children, Jennifer and Lauren. A sister, Barbara Brittain and her husband, Charles, of Morganton, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive Margie.In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Martin Shuping; a son, David Shuping; four brothers, Wayne, Robert, Carl, and Milton Kerley; and two sisters, Helen Farr and Claudia Blalock.Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Burkemont Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will speak with friends following the service. In case of bad weather, the service will be held in the church sanctuary.Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
