Margaret Jordan passed away peacefully on January 31st at Autumn Care of Saluda, NC.  She was 91 years young.

Margaret was the daughter of William Fred and Annie Reep Hawkins.  Born January 19th, 1931 in McDowell County.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.  She served as a greeter for many years as she enjoyed meeting new people.  She loved her church family and found much pleasure in spending time with them.

When not active with church, Margaret could usually be found working in her garden or out in the yard.  She loved her flowers.  In her last days, Margaret would sit for hours to watch her beautiful creation of flowers bloom.  You could see the excitement in her eyes of pure joy.  She was like an encyclopedia of gardening information.

Margaret also loved to travel and was ready for a road trip at a moment’s notice.

Margaret worked for Dr. James Croft for 19 years until she retired.  Prior to that, she worked in the x-ray department at Grace Hospital, and she was a supervisor with Highlander Limited Textile Company.

Margaret loved all of her family.  She was a devoted sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt.

She always enjoyed time with family.  She would greet her loved ones with a “Hey babe,” a smile, and a big ole hug.

She will be greatly missed and forever held within our hearts.

We will never forget you “MaMaw.”

Margaret is survived by: one son, John “Steven” Jordan and wife, Joyce, of Morganton, NC; grandchildren, Shanna Wall and husband, Darren, of Morganton, Noah Spencer and wife, Myra, of Morganton, and Shayne Jordan and wife, Whitney, of Chattanooga, TN; great-grandchildren, Braxton Spencer, Bryce Jordan, Chloe Spencer, Cooper Wall, Spencer Wall, and Annabelle Wall; and two brothers, Louie Hawkins of Morganton and Ralph Hawkins of Durham, NC.

Margaret was pre-deceased by husbands John Jordan and John Powell; sisters, Ruby Hill and Anne Davis; and brothers, Auther Hawkins and Robert Hawkins.

Due to covid, a private service will be held on Monday, February 7th.

You can send flowers/condolences to Sossoman Funeral Home.
