Margaret Hughes Carpenter, 65, of Homestead Dr., Morganton, NC died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at her residence following a period of declining health. She was born April 25, 1941 in Buncombe County, NC, and was the daughter of the late Lee and Frances Jones Hughes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Bernice Edward Hughes and James Arthur Hughes.
Margaret is survived by a daughter, Donna Hollis and husband, Faron, of Lenoir, NC; a brother, LeRoy Hughes of Asheville, NC; a sister, Nancy Anderson of South Carolina ; three grandchildren, Sylvia Crain, Dustin Hollis, and Dillon Hollis; great grandchildren, Brian Crain, Bryson Loftis, and Breanna Loftis; nieces, Stephanie Hughes and Melissa Hughes, both of Florida; and nephews, Junior Hughes of Morganton, Randy Hughes of Vale, NC, and Greg Hughes of Asheville, NC.
The family will be at the residence of the daughter, Donna Hollis, 1399 Nellys Way, Lenoir. Services will be held at a later date. Sossoman Funeral service is assisting the family.
