Margaret Franklin Scronce McCall, 84, of Morganton, NC, formerly of Drexel, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Born in Burke County, NC on May 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ed Franklin and Willie Chapman Franklin. Margaret was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and retired from the Burke County School System after 18 years of service.She is survived by her sons, Thomas Vernon Scronce and wife, Connie, of Valdese, David Steele Scronce and wife, Joanelle, of Morganton; a daughter, Frances Stamey Scronce of Drexel; a brother, J.D. Franklin of Oak Ridge, TN; sisters, Betty Brendle and husband, Jim of Valdese and Lena Mosteller of Morganton; grandsons, Joshua Scronce and wife, Donna, Matthew Scronce and wife, Tracy, Jacob Scronce and wife, Maggie, and Daniel Stamey; great-grandchildren, Hannah Scronce, Caleb Scronce, Hailey Stamey, and Terri Shook; and two great-great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Carson Shook.In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Steele Scronce; her second husband, Bernie Gilbert McCall; a son, Robert Daniel Scronce; sisters, Lavaughn Weatherman and Lorena Wiggins; and a son-in-law, Eddie Stamey.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Martha Buff Welch officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral. At other times the family will be at the residence of Frances Scronce, 3812 Castle Drive, Drexel.
