Mafhrie J. Ledford McPeters, 92, of Morganton, NC went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. Born in Yancey County, NC on August 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Patrick Ledford and Maude Willis Ledford.
Mafhrie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family dearly. She enjoyed gardening and cooking special meals for her family. Mrs. McPeters enjoyed quilting and fishing, but her special love was keeping house and taking care of her family.
Mafhrie is survived by her son, Charlie “Danny” McPeters and wife, Pat; daughters, Ortez McPeters Johnson and husband, Larry, Joyce McPeters Suttles and husband, Ken, and Linda McPeters Ershadi; a daughter-in-law, Nadine McPeters; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mafhrie was preceded in death by her husband, James Francis McPeters; a son, Carol McPeters; brothers, Alvie Ledford, Elzie Ledford, Grover Ledford, and Paul Ledford; and sisters, Grace Ledford Hensley and Ina Ledford Penland.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2pm, Friday, August 4, 2017 at Mull’s Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Bud Jernigan and Pastor Kevin Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
