Mack Wilson Foreman, Jr., 75, of Morganton went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 9, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on August 27, 1946, he was the son of the late Mack Wilson Foreman, Sr. and Versie Ila Smith Foreman.  In addition to his parents, Mack was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Foreman Mosteller.

Mr. Foreman graduated from Glen Alpine High School and Kings College.  He was a machinist and tool die maker at Leviton Southern Devices for 35 years.   After his retirement, he loved riding motorcycles and cruising the parkway.  The highlight of his week was being with his Sunday school class at Burkemont Baptist Church where he was a member.  He taught Sunday school at Burkemont and at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for a number of years.  “Poppie” was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was always doting on his grandchildren.

Mack is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret Patton Foreman; daughters, Stephanie Graham (Richard) and Page Abernethy (Shea); grandchildren who were the light of his life, Landon Graham, Liam Graham, and Cora Abernethy; sisters, Maxine Merrill and Lovenia Searcy; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Burkemont Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family requests that all in attendance wear a mask due to the ongoing health crisis.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church “Above and Beyond,” 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
