Macie W. Jaynes, 92, of Morganton, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 21, 2026, after a brief illness. Born in Burke County, NC on January 18, 1934, she was the beginning of a five-generation family. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Clara Wilson.

Macie grew up in Valdese, NC and graduated from Valdese High School. She married her husband Odell D. Jaynes on March 26, 1955. She worked as a Supply Clerk at Grace Hospital and retired with 33 years of service. However, her main focus was being a mother to her daughter and sons. She was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church in Morganton, NC where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Care Team Ministry Member, as well as many other areas of ministry. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking delicious meals for her family and keeping a meticulous house. She was famous for her potato soup and corn bread. In her spare time, she loved sitting on her back porch watching the birds and squirrels, watching sports and true crime movies, as well as being an avid Fox News fan.

In addition to her parents, Herman and Clara Wilson, she cherished the memories of her beloved husband, Odell D. Jaynes for 52 years. She also cherished the memories of her brothers, Mack Wilson, Roger Wilson, Bill Wilson, Winferd (Bimp) Wilson; and her sisters, Juanita Church and Reba Hensley.

Macie is survived by her children, Robin Burnette (Richard), Edward Jaynes, and Eric Jaynes (Cynthia). Grandchildren, Tamara Hensley (Jeremy), Beth Buckner (Mark), Austin Jaynes, Gaby Reep (Justin), Ashley Albright (Jeremy} and Emily Jaynes (Ryan Cook) and her special God Child, Jill King. Great Grandchildren, Chloe Greene (Steven), Payton Gauldin (Brandon), Cole Buckner (Taylor), Katelyn Griffin (Bryson), Nohlan Jaynes, Skylah Fitzgerald, Barrett and Georgia Reep, Charis Albright, Garrett Hensley (Destiny), Braxton Hensley, and Chasity Mode (Jonnie). Great-Great Grandchildren, Adler and Azlyn Greene, Ellie Buckner, Brynlee and Raelee Griffin, Kohen Hensley, and Callahan and Nayvee Mode. She was also survived by her brother, Rev. David Wilson; and sisters-in-law, Mary Wilson and Patricia Wilson; numerous cousins and extended family; and her beloved dog, Bo.

The graveside service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Burkemont Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Albright, Rev. Dr. Luke Lane, and Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church, Above and Beyond Fund, 4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655 (burkemontbaptist.org/give) or AMOREM, 902 Kirkwood Street, NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 (amoremsupport.org/donate).
