Lynn Anderson McGimsey, 75 of Morganton, NC was reunited with her husband, Mike, in Heaven on their 31st wedding anniversary, Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Born on January 12, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Robert Burton Sr. and Mary Anderson. She was a 1968 graduate of Morganton High School. She earned a degree from Western Piedmont Community College then later Gardner Webb University. Lynn had a long and successful career in banking, where she developed many friendships. She was an avid reader who had enough books in her home to create her own library. Lynn loved to knit and cross-stitch. Others would often benefit from her talent. She enjoyed listening to beach music and could often be found shagging on the dance floor.

Lynn is survived by her daughter, Tonya Wilson (Randy); grandchildren, Taressa Davis (Austin), Caroline Wilson; several in-laws, cousins, and friends; fur babies, Oscar and Allie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael “Mike” McGimsey; brother Robert Burton “Bobby” Anderson, Jr.

A Celebration of Lynn’s life will be from 5pm until 8pm, on her 76th Birthday, Monday, January 12, 2026, at North Morganton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Light refreshments, birthday cake and ice cream will be served.

The family asks you to bring a card with your favorite memory of Lynn.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Dear Family, I just learned of Lynn's passing - 1/13/26. Lynn was such a wonderful person . I always enjoyed being in her company and sadly, my opportunities to do so were simply not enough . Her personality was so bright and fun loving . I also will remember her traits of being blessed with a kind and gentle soul. I am thinking of each of you and wish you peace in your hearts .

We were great friends. I remember Lynn specifically at all of the dances at the Rec and at the Elks Lodge. She was a great shagger and never hesitated to ask me for a dance. After the party days we saw each other at Wachovia quite a bit. Then after she retired she always came by to see me at my retirement job at Burke County United Way. We all loved Lynn. She is already sorely missed.
