Lydia Chavez Cline, 81, of Morganton went to be with our Lord in Heaven on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the John Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Born in the Philippines on October 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Eliseo Chavez and Julieta Flores Chavez. Lydia has been a resident of Morganton since 1959 and attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Walmart shopper.A loving mother and grandmother, Lydia is survived by her long-time partner, Robert Dale of the home; a daughter, Belinda Beck of Asheville; grandchildren, Evangelina Powell of Charlotte, Ashley Blankenship of Asheville, and Chazi Blankenship of Asheville; a great-grandchild, Kamaya Robinson of Asheville; a brother, Alfredo Chavez of Manilla, Philippines and Priscilla Chavez of Bacolod City, Philippines.In addition to her parents, Lydia was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 23, 2012 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Father Kenneth Whittington officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
