Lula B. McDaniel Braswell of Morganton NC, age 87, passed away on February 26, 2013. She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Anderson Braswell; her parents, Clebern and Lillie Belle McDaniel; four brothers, Jesse, Summie, Farris, and Julius McDaniel.Surviving are her two children: Ronald A. Braswell and wife Hazel of Connelly

Springs; Patricia L. Cook and husband Eugene of North Myrtle Beach. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Eva Pendley of Taylorsville; 6 grandchildren and

6 great-grandchildren."The bond that links your true family is not only one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. Our family chain is broken; but as God calls us home one by one, our chain will link again."Lula’s passion was gardening. Each year she would grow and can the bountiful harvest that she not only used herself but shared with neighbors and family. She won many First Place Blue Ribbons for her canned goods at the county fairs.

Lula was very talented musically. Although she never had music lessons, she could play any musical instrument. She would often pick up her guitar, banjo or harmonica and sing country/bluegrass songs. She was also an excellent yodeler.

Lula was a kind, caring, hard working person, one who never complained. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends, and all who came in contact with her. She retired from Alba-Waldensian, Inc., Valdese and was a member of Amherst Baptist Church.The family extends a special "Thank You" to the staff of College Pines Nursing Home for their exceptional care of Lula during her stay.Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday March 1, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home of Morganton with Rev. Blain Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Adrenal Diseases Foundation, 505 Northern Blvd., Great Neck, NY 11021 or to American Diabetes Association, Always and Forever Memorial Program, 222 S. Church St., Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202.
