Lucy Ann Mace, 72, of Burke County, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 12, 2010 after an extended illness. Born on July 12, 1938, she was the daughter of the late June Dale and Lucy Norman Dale. Lucy was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and taught Sunday school. In her later years she attended Bible Baptist Church. She retired from Roses in Morganton with over 25 years of service.Lucy is survived by her sons, Tommy Calhoun and wife, Judy, and Phillip Calhoun, Sr., both of Morganton; daughters, Cheryl Pritchard and husband, Kenneth, Sandra Mace and fiancée, Shad Causby, and Lisa Duckworth and husband, Doug, all of Morganton; her former husband, Winfred Mace of Morganton; grandchildren, Melissa Smith and husband, Ted, Chris Calhoun and wife, Amber, Phillip Calhoun, Jr., Brandon Mace and wife, Michelle, Andrew Watts, Cory Carter, Josh Duckworth and wife, Alicia, and Travis Duckworth; great-grandchildren, Cody Smith, Chris Calhoun, Colby Mace, Dawson Mace, Destiny Harden, Dillon Harden, Tyler Watts, and Kadd Watts; brothers, Carl, Paul, Hardy, Russel, James, and Joe Dale; and a sister, Ruth Duckworth.In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Watts, and a sister, Ruby Michaels.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, November 15, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church with Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the son, Tommy Calhoun. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Baptist Church, P.O. Box 499, Glen Alpine, NC 28628. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
