Louise W. Barrier

Louise W. Barrier, 76 died Saturday, September 27, 2008, at College Pines following a period of declining health. She was born in Avery County on April 10, 1932 and was a daughter of the late Sanford and Elizabeth Bennett Whittington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Barrier; seven brothers, and one sister. Mrs. Barrier was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church.Surviving are a son, Pat Barrier and his wife, Lora; a daughter, Linda Buff and her husband, Jimmy all of Morganton; grandchildren, Gina Fleming, Erin Barrier, Joey Oxford, Brandi Wood, and Nikki Patton; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Barrier and Ruth Ollis; and special nieces, Jean Williams and Jewel Barrier.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008, at Mount Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at Mrs. Barrier’s home on Mount Home Church Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
