Lorene Elizabeth Buchanan Fox

Lorene Elizabeth Buchanan Fox, 89, of Fish Hatchery Rd. Morganton, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, June 17, 2017. Born in Mercer County, WV, on April 23, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Vance Bryant Buchanan and Bonnie Rae Austin Jaynes. Lorene was a member of the First Assembly of God, where she had attended for years. Lorene was such a Prayer Warrior and ministered to everyone she met about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She led many souls to the Lord through her witnessing. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Fox Shuffler and husband, Greg of Morganton; sons, Phillip Fox, Donald Dula and wife, Lisa, Ronald Dula and David Dula of Morganton; step-daughter, Janie Duncan and step-sons, Ronald Fox and wife, Dottie of Morganton and Wayne Smith and wife, Sue of PA; two sisters, Shirley Payne of Asheville and Joyce Stephenson of VA. In addition to her children, she has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, which she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, Lorene was preceded in death by her husbands, Talmadge Fox and JA Dula; sisters, Aileen McCleary (Lorene’s Twin) and Betty Abee; brothers, Ray, Billy and James Buchanan. A celebration of Lorene’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in the Colonial Chapel at Sossoman Funeral Home with the Reverends David Orders and Keith Rose officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 noon -1 pm. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
