Lois Stephens Tolbert

Lois Stephens Tolbert, 84, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016.  Born in Burke County, NC on December 20, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Albert Stephens and Virginia Paschall Stephens.  Mrs. Tolbert was a member of Zion Baptist Church.  She worked at Skyland Textiles for 17 years until the birth of her daughter.

Lois is survived by her son, Mark Tolbert and his wife, Danah, of Morganton; a daughter, Kimberly Collins and her husband, Ed, of Morganton; grandchildren, Zachary Tolbert, Makayla Tolbert, Ben Tolbert, Brandon Collins and his wife, Alisha, and Rev. Stephen Collins and his wife, Sharon; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brayden, Alaina, Sophie, Noah, and Jonah Collins and Noelle Tolbert; brothers, Bob Stephens and his wife, Franda, and Ralph Stephens and his wife, Barbara; a sister, Jackie Metcalf; a brother-in-law, Woody Tolbert and his wife, Suzan; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Tolbert; a daughter, Susan Dawn Tolbert; three sisters, Doris Carswell, Ruth Carlisle, and Viola Longo; and a brother, Albert Stephens, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Zion Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at the church at 3 p.m. with Dr. Steve Parker, Rev. Keith Rose, and Rev. Stephen Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
