Lois Norida Pearson Arrowood, 88, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 2, 2026. She was born on April 4, 1937 in Burke County to the late Vernon Pearson and Wilma Garrison Pearson. Norida was a loving wife of 64 years to her one and only love, a devoted mother, and a proud Mamaw who always put her family first. Her life was rooted in love, care, and dedication to those closest to her, and she never stopped showing up for her family in meaningful ways. Having faced polio at a young age, she demonstrated a quiet strength that carried her through life with resilience and determination. Norida enjoyed staying active, from playing sports in her younger years to taking up golf later in life to share in her husband’s passion. Creative and talented, she also used her artistic gifts throughout her life and career. Norida lived a long, full, and loving life of 88 years, just days shy of her 89th birthday, and will be remembered most for her strength, her kindness, and the deep love she had for her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Smith Arrowood; brother, Max Vernon Pearson.
Norida is survived by her children, Brian Arrowood (Susan) and April Arrowood; grandchildren, Wesley Arrowood, Kaylee Arrowood, Logan Henderson, and Grace Arrowood; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Jaida, Wyatt, Annelis, and Gionna; sister, Linda Pearson Stamey.
The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Patrick Bradshaw officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amorem Hospice (amoremsupport.org/donate).
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Brian, April, I would like to apologize for not knowing about the passing of your Mother and my cousin. I no longer am able to drive so I just don’t look at the obituaries in the paper or their website My daughter was checking the website today and showed the notification. Norida was always kind and full of life and herself too. I remember when I was small her and Imogene coming and spending the weekend with my Mom. Not going to tell you that it is not going to be hard living without them. Dad has been gone for 6 months and I still look for him to come for supper. Mom has been gone since 2004 and still look for her t walk up here everyday. It will get better. Hold your memories close and just find one that makes you smile every day. This is what Norida would have wanted. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Ann
