Lois “Neecie” Smith, 66, of Connelly Springs, NC, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Born in Dade County, Florida on August 3, 1959, she was the daughter of the late Arvil Odell Foster and Maude Lois Benfield Foster.
She moved from Florida in 1962 and attended Mt. Gilead Baptist Church as a youth. Neecie coached softball, basketball, and soccer at George Hildebran. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Donald Smith; children, Jeremy Smith (Amanda) and Christine Tessener (Chris); grandchildren, Addison Smith, Colby Smith, Gavin Tessener, Aidan Tessener, Draven Tessener, and Kylianna Tessener; brothers, Terry and Robert Foster; sister, Diane Benge; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Neecie was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Jackie Foster; and sisters, Debbie Stock and Sherry Wilson.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, May 25, 2026 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Blain Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Sossoman Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

My heart breaks at this news. I can’t even begin to explain the impact Neecie had on me. Our time spent together may have been short but I have so many many memories. Thank you for the wisdom and guidance I got from you! You are missed.

I'm so sorry to hear that Neecie passed. I remember her and the whole Foster family while growing up at Riverside Baptist Church. That was the good ole days but we are all looking forward to the big family reunion in Heaven. May God give the peace and comfort to all the family and friends as only he can. See you on the other side Neecie.
