Lloyd “Junior’ Ross, 83, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 after a brief illness.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 1, 1931, he was the son of the late Lloyd Robert Ross and Rita Ann Hicks Ross.  Junior was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was co-owner of Franklin Ross Electrical and retired from Premier Hosiery Mill.  Junior had a passion for riding and breeding Tennessee Walking Horses.

Mr. Ross is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Buff Ross of the home; a son, Chris N. Ross and his wife, Cindy, of Morganton; grandchildren, Rebecca Ross Shuping and her husband, Todd, and Christopher Ross and his fiancée, Dawn Whisnant; great-grandchildren, Emily and Ellie Shuping, Easton Ross, and Keagan Clark; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents, Junior was preceded in death by four brothers, Owen, Truitt, Oliver, and Charles Ross; and two sisters, Louise Green and Edith Williams.

The memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2015 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with the Rev. Eddy Bunton officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.  At other times the family will be at the home of Chris and Cindy Ross.
