Lindsay Ray "Lindy" Bridges, 54 of Morganton, NC went home to be with his loving God on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his residence. Born December 1, 1959 in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was a son of the late Denny Moore Bridges and Kathryn Lulu Blanton Bridges. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Lindy adored his family, especially his grandbabies, and he loved everyone he met. He showed others Christ through his life. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin sister, Cynthia "Cindy" Bridges.Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Tamara Christine Matney Bridges of the home; children, Alan and Amber Bridges of Morganton; grandchildren, Samantha, Kathryn, Susan, Alexandria, and Grace; siblings, Dennis Bridges, Doug Bridges and wife, Lynn, Pat McDonald and husband, Ernest, and Chuck Bridges all of Shelby, NC; and the mother of his grandchildren, April Bridges.A celebration of Lindy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Reverend Michael Gantt officiating. Family and friends will gather for fellowship at the church from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. A second celebration will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Shortridge Ramey Funeral Home, Grundy, VA with the Reverend Donald Tittle officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home for one hour before the service. Burial will follow the service in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407 or to Cleveland County Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Dr., Shelby, NC 28150. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
