Mrs. Linda Kay Barus Wilson, 82, arrived at rest with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026.
Born in Valdese, NC on September 21st, 1943 to the late Raymond and Aileen Barus, Linda lived a life guided by God and centered around family. She worked alongside many loyal friends for several decades at Drexel Heritage Plant #7. When she wasn’t at work, she could be found participating in activities at Salem UMC, tending to her flower bed or reading.
With a great amount of strength, integrity and just a little bit of dry humor, Linda served her friends and family. While attending car shows with her late husband, Robey and great friends, Lisa and Ervin Dale, showing up at sporting and social events to cheer on her grandchildren, and teaching the Pre-K Sunday School class to several generations of Salem UMC children, Linda demonstrated a wonderful example of Christian service and will forever be a role model to those who knew her. “Momma” and “Maw Maw” were her favorite roles. She taught us how to sing nursery rhymes with little hand motions, how to make mud pies and have the best carport picnics and encouraged us with joy and wisdom in whatever we endeavored. We love you, Maw-Maw, always and forever.
Along with her parents and husband, Robey, Linda was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny (Carolyn) and Ronnie (Lee Ann) Barus, a sister, Margaret (John) Brown, and a son, Rev. Robey Alan Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Kevin) Lowdermilk and daughter-in-law, Lonna Wilson (Greg Helton), granddaughters: Brittany (Neal) Donnelly, Allie Lowdermilk and Alana (Chris) Parks and five wonderful great-grands: Atticus, Lanie, Carson, Colton and Cooper; sister, Bobbie McEntire.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, March 22, 2026 in the fellowship hall of Salem United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Monica Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank Craig and Trish Causby, the Earle family and Ms. Diane Goodnight for being the best neighbors to Linda.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
