Linda Elizabeth Chandler Shull, 79, of Morganton NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Born in Buncombe County on December 28, 1946, she was the daughter of the late James Robert “J.R.” Chandler and Laura Elizabeth Poore Chandler. Linda graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Accounting with honors from Western Piedmont Community College. Afterwards, she spent over 40 years as an accountant for various local companies.

In her spare time, she enjoyed camping trips, picnics to Linville Falls, and vacations at Holden Beach. She was an avid Santa Clause and Coca-Cola collector. She was a talented painter, specializing in oil-based paintings. She enjoyed a variety of music genres, jazz & country music being some of her favorite. Additionally, she always claimed Willie Nelson as her favorite musician and Dolly Parton as being her “hero.”

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 57 years, Rex Levone Shull; children, Terry Shull and Sherry Shull Gordon (Mark); grandchildren, Chesnee Shull Davis (Randy), Katherine Nicole Farris (Seth), Mitchell Shull (Stephanie), Isaiah Gordon (Hannah), Megan Gordon, Heather Gordon, Joanna Gordon, and Isaac Gordon; great-grandchildren, Levi Davis, Caroline Davis, Aubree Farris, Scarlett Davis, Tyler Davis, and Jameson Farris; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Sylvia Chandler Benfield (Bob); and daughter-in-law, Amy Shull.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The celebration of life will be held at noon in the church sanctuary with Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church - Above And Beyond Fund, Morganton, NC (4668 Burkemont Road, Morganton, NC 28655) or Amorem Hospice (amoremsupport.org/donate).

Dear Rex and Family, Rusty and I are deeply sorry and just heartbroken that Linda has passed and left you, your family and us, who loved her so much. Linda was my original babysitter, helped with my wedding and was always generous, kind and giving to me, throughout my entire life. Linda was an amazing mother and always a reliable and dear friend. We will all miss her, as Linda’s passing seems much too soon. I do know Linda is with Betty, Chandler and my Dad now. I know they are all together with our Lord in Heaven…possible listening to some good country music. Rex, our thoughts, love and prayers are with you and the entire family.
