Lillie Ann Ollis, 95, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her residence. She was born February 5, 1918 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, and was the daughter of the late John Roy Vanier and Daisy Thompson Vanier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 74 years, Harmon C. Ollis; brothers, Lenwood and Leroy Vanier; and by sisters, Elizabeth, Mildred and Zadie. Mrs. Ollis was retired from Southern Devices and was a member of Linville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending her church, gardening, canning, reading her bible, and cooking for all her family and friends whom she prayed for daily.Surviving are her two daughters, Eudine Beck and husband, Leroy, of Nebo and Joanne Epley and husband, Raymond , of Morganton; grandchildren, Susan Beck Williams and husband, Mark, of Rural Hall, NC, Robin Whitt and husband, Mike, of Somerset, KY, and Russell Epley and wife, Shanda, and Becky Shehan and husband, Bobby all of Morganton; and great-grandchildren, Lindsay Henson of Greenville, NC, Riley and Kylea Shehan, and Lillie Katherine and Caroline Epley all of Morganton.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Linville United Methodist Church with Rev. Neal Brantley, Jr. and Rev. Bobby Shehan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church one hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Linville United Methodist Church Building Fund, 3625 Fish Hatchery Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
