Lawrence Ervin McGee

Lawrence Ervin McGee, 47, of Morganton went to his heavenly home on Monday, July 22, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 17, 1971, he was the son of Betty Jean Waycaster Hastings and the late Johnnie Elmore McGee.  Lawrence enjoyed life outside.  He loved gardening and working with plants, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mr. McGee is survived by his daughter, Kayla Smith Midgett; grandchildren, Rain Midgett, Bella Midgett, and Ocean Austin; step-sons, Kyle Smith and Billy Hill; brothers, Lee McGee and wife, Amelia, and Jason McGee; and Lawrence’s former wife, Jeannie Smith McGee.

In addition to his father, Lawrence was preceded in death by his brother, Edward McGee.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
