Lawrence Edward “L.E.” Banner, 94, of Morganton, NC died Friday, October 17, 2025.

Born in Avery County, NC on September 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Edward Blake Banner and Franzelle Ledford Banner.

Mr. Banner was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church. He worked in several furniture stores, including Banner and Rector Furniture and Shallotte Furniture in Shallotte, NC.

L.E. is survived by his daughter, Lavonda Banner Lingerfelt (Michael); son, Eddie Banner (Donna); grandchildren, Chad Smith (Victoria), Jason Banner, Ashley Penley (Richard), Cierra Stamey (Jim), and Brooke Norman; great-grandchildren, Alexis Campbell (Tyler), Laiken Baker (Colby), Katlin Basnett (Gerald), Austin Wolfe, Nick Banner, Madison Banner, and Kasen Stamey; and great-great-grandchildren, Addie Campbell, Jensen Barnett, and Ayden Banner.

In addition to his parents, L.E. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Huffman Banner; great-great-granddaughter, Willow Basnett; and sisters, Lorne Price, Lotis Saunders, and Ramona Walden.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, October 20, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
