Visitation
Laura McMurray Casteel, 63, of Savannah, Georgia passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Born on May 23, 1963, in Decatur, Indiana, she spent most her childhood in Indiana and Georgia.
Laura attended the University of Georgia. She worked in financial institutions for most of her career. In recent years, Laura enjoyed her visits to Morganton and to Grace Ridge, where her parents and her cousin Shari Ramseur reside. Laura loved flowers, dogs, and enjoyed board games, puzzles, shopping, and movies, often with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Penelope Erin Casteel; parents, Birch and Nancy McMurray; brothers, Scott (Nancy) McMurray and Stan (Annette) McMurray, and four nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, Birch Wathen McMurray.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2026 at the Forney Family Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at noon in the Grace Ridge Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
