Larry Walden West, 76, of Morganton, NC passed away, Saturday, August 6, 2022 at home surrounded by his family, where he wanted to be. Born on January 4, 1946, he was the son of the late Jesse and Melba West. Larry was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church for 45 years. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Larry was an avid gardener and shared his bounty with family and friends. Larry was a tractor enthusiast and a member of Valley Hills Antique Power Club. He was a Veteran of the US Army and retired from Western Carolina Center after 30 years of service.
Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Fox West; children, Joy Clark (Franklin), Jimmy Ethridge (Stephanie), Susie Fortune (Kenny), Jason West (Jennifer), Lorrie Hoglen (Jason); grandchildren, Katlyn, Dustin, Grayson, Samantha, Brandon, Justin, Jesse, Joseph, Jonas, Julia, Mattie, Lily; great-grandchildren, Blaize, Creek, Aida, Rhett, Hunter, Cooper; sisters, Elaine Propst, Sandra West; sister-in-law, Patsy Fox Prabhu; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1pm, Monday, August 8, 2022 at Mt. Home Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church at 1pm with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund.
