Larry "Stump" Scott, 68 of Camelot Manor, Granite Falls, NC and formerly of Morganton died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at Frye Regional Medical Center, Hickory, NC. Born in Burke County, NC on July 11, 1937, he was a son of the late Paul Hampton Scott and Louise Stacy Scott. Larry was a retired employee of the recreation department of Western Carolina Center and was a former employee of the Collett Street Recreation Center Pool. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Morganton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Paul S. Scott and Ben Scott; and by sisters, Virginia "Sis" Hyatt and Lucy Guimond.
Surviving are his sons, Keith Scott and his wife, Lisa of Morganton and Rick Scott of Lenoir; sisters, Laura McCloskey of Venice, FL, Cliffie Thomson of Front Royal, VA, Rosemary Renstrom of Virginia Beach, VA, and Anna Ruth Wilson of Glen Alpine; and grandchildren, Michael Scott, Virginia Scott, and James Ross Scott.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2005 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Lindquist officiating. Inurnment in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium will be a later date. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
