Larry "Chum" Benfield, 48, of Huffman View Trail, Morganton, NC, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at his residence. Born May 28, 1958 in Burke County, NC, he is the son of Walter Jones Benfield and the late Mary Louise Mayfield. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard "Buddy" Benfield.
Chum is survived by his father and step-mother, Walter and Nora Benfield of Morganton; three brothers, Robert "Bob" Benfield, Lenoir Babe Benfield, and James "Lard" Benfield, all of Morganton; and two half-brothers, Tracy Benfield and Justin Benfield, both of Morganton.
The funeral will be held at 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 13, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dean Presnell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
