Lamont Tilden Harris, 76, of Drexel, NC died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Burke Palliative Care Center. He was born July 26, 1933 in Burke County, and was the son of the late John Tilden Harris and Donnie Jane Powell Harris. Lamont was a member of Enon Baptist Church where he served as a R.A. leader, a lifetime deacon, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the building and grounds committee, a member of the brotherhood, was choir director for 13 years and a lifelong member of the church choir. He was a long time employee of Sigmon Electric and owned and operated with his wife M & M Seamers for 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He served on the Drexel Fair Board.He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Moleta Baker Harris of the home; son, Monty Harris, of the home; daughters, Shelia McKenzie and husband, Kevin, Michelle Harris, Donna McGuire and husband, Tim all of Drexel, and Pamela Richards and husband, Barry of Vale; brothers, Cecil Harris and wife Mary Juan of Lufkin, TX and Kenneth Harris and wife, Pat of Drexel; sister, Diann Epley and husband, Larry of Drexel; grandchildren, Brandon Richards, Benjamin Richards, Jessica Christian, Dusty McGuire, Mindy Blackwell, Alicia Barlowe, Molly McKenzie and Tyler McKenzie; and great grandson, Kaysen Lucas.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Enon Baptist Church with the Reverends Gary Garner and Ernie Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, 2059 Enon Rd., Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
