Kennith Harwood, 59, of Drexel, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.  He was born in Buncombe County, NC on June 17, 1957.  Mr. Harwood attended Mt. Home Baptist Church.  He painted for TBI in Lincolnton for many years and then worked himself.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his family.  He was always smiling and made others smile.

Mr. Harwood is survived by his wife of 31 years, Renee Roper Harwood; sons, Kenny Harwood of Hickory, NC and Kevin Harwood and wife, Nikki, of Morganton; granddaughters, Candice and Chasady Harwood; a great-grandson, Abshur Hall; his mother, Flo Harwood McKinney and husband, Ernest “Pop”, of Marion, NC; brothers, Robert Harwood and wife, Darthea, of Marion, Donald Harwood of Jonas Ridge, NC, and Darryl McKinney of Morganton; sisters, Judy Biggerstaff of Marion, Rhonda Harwood of Marion, Donna McKinney and husband, Randy, of Marion, Sherry Watts of Morganton, and Adele McKinney of Morganton; his in-laws, Claude and Verlie Roper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Harwood was preceded in death by his father, Ivory J. Harwood; daughter, Christy Renee Harwood; and brothers, Jay Harwood and Richard Harwood.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Mt. Home Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2pm in the church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.

Papa, I miss you so much. So much has changed in life without you here, but I know you are watching over us and protecting us throughout the years. Dad is engaged..you would love Katie. Kenny is still Kenny. Mama Renee is still mama. Mama and Papa are up and down. We miss you. Love you even more. Wish you were here.
