Ken E. Deal, 90, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2024. He was born on July 16, 1934 in Burke County to the late Clarence C. Deal and Myra Mull Deal. Ken was a member of Valdese Church of God. He was a veteran of the US Air Fource serving in the Korean Conflict. Ken worked at Breeden Poultry for nineteen and half years and then at B&L Feed. Later he worked for Drexel Furniture.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Yancey Deal; sons, Robert Deal, Thurman Deal and Ken E. Deal, Jr.; daughter Katherine Deal; brother, Russell Deal.

Ken is survived by his sons, Bryan K. Deal (Angela), Bishop Shurman C. Deal (Charlene); daughter, Angela Deal Williams: grandchildren, Jonathan Mayfield, Ashely Flynn, Lydia J. Roark, Odessa Legters, Aaron Deal, Gracan Faulk, Josiah Deal and Nathaniel Deal; six great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Lail.

The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30pm Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 12pm on Friday, December 13, 2024 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Bishop Samuel Abee officiating. Burial will follow at 2pm in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.

Military honors provided by the Caldwell Co. Veteran Honor Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Brother Deal was near and dear to my heart. Just like a grandfather to me. I will see him again in heaven someday! He will be greatly missed but heaven is sure sweeter with him there. Love - Sarah
