Katie Williams, 85 of Morganton, NC died Friday, October 14, 2016. She was born on February 2, 1931 in Caldwell County, NC and was the daughter of the late Walter Cloyd Poarch and Pearl Smith Oakes. Katie was a member of Laurel Haven Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Vernon Briscoe Williams and brother, Bill Poarch.
She is survived by daughter, Annette Williams Clontz of Morganton; sister, Claudia Shell of Pensacola, Fl; brothers, Forest Simmons of Lenoir, NC and Everette Branch of Casey, SC; and grandson, Michael Clontz.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Ed Lawing officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
