Katherine Bridges Bailey

Katherine Bridges Bailey, 90, of Morganton, NC passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Elmcroft Heartland Village in Southern Pines, NC.  Born in Cleveland County, NC on March 12, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Garland Bridges and Annie Sue Lancaster Bridges.  Katherine was a faithful member of North Morganton Baptist Church.  A homemaker and talented sewer, she loved to bake cookies, pies, pastries, and yeast biscuits.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by her sons, Roger Edwin Bailey and his wife, Camille, of Pinehurst, NC and Dennis Bailey and his wife, Sherry, of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Philip, Kelty, Rich, Will, and Skat Bailey; great-grandchildren, Austin and Denny Bailey; brothers, Hugh Bridges and his wife, Karen, Earl Bridges and his wife, Linda, Henry Bridges and his wife, Peggy Margaret, Donald Bridges and his wife, Faye, and Russell Bridges and his wife, Bonnie; sisters, Peggy Moses and Martha Strickland; and a number of nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by her husband, Yates Bailey; and a sister, Jean Bridges.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at North Morganton Baptist Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
