Junnie C. Powell, 90, of Morganton, NC passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025. She was born on November 23, 1935 in Burke County to the late Arthur Beason and Eliza Carlton. She attended both El Bethel Baptist Church and South Side Baptist Church. Junnie loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, embroidering, making quilts and watching soap operas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy C. Powell; brother, Charles Carlton.
She is survived by her son, Dennis Powell; daughter; Peggy Powell Holland; grandchildren, Josh Holland, Patricia Holland McMillian (Jerared) and Jessica Webb (Bobbie); seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2pm-3pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:30pm at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. David Orders officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
