June Johnston Hollingsworth, 85, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She was born on December 19, 1940 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Jay Bennett Johnston and Janie Johnston. June was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She retired from Bank of America and had started the local branch here in Morganton. She also worked at Western Carolina Center and after her retirement, she volunteered at various local organizations including Burke Arts Council. She was Burke County’s first Art Council Director and worked for the Burke County Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to her parents, June is preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Faye Carpenter and Howard Ray Carpenter.
She is survived by a nephew, Mark Carpenter of Marshville, NC; niece, Sandra Phillips (Russell) of Clayton, NC; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; three great-great nephews and two great-great nieces.
No services are planned at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
