Julia Elaine Blankenship, 79, of Lenoir, NC, gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

Born in Caldwell County, NC on August 15, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Oscar McCall and Abbie Hilburn McCall.

Julia was a member of Hartland Baptist Church, and she loved the Lord and her church. She also loved gardening, canning, and puzzles.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Julia is survived by her sons, Darrell McCall and David Swink; daughter, Sharon Swink; grandchildren, Hunter McCall, Jazlyn Cline (Dustin), Jordan Swink (Jade), Randall Swink (Ashley), and Robert Cresawn; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Dennis McCall (Sandy); sister, Genise Mock (Barry); and numerous extended family.

In addition to her parents, Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest John Blankenship; and grandsons, Chris Swink and Timothy Cresawn.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2026 at Hartland Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at noon in the church with Rev. Todd Smith and Rev. Dr. Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

What wonderful memories we have of times spent with cousin Elaine. She was BLESSED beyond measure with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her and who she dearly loved in return. Her family gave her such special care before and during her years of declining health. We extend our deepest sympathy and love to all her family.
